Flash-Card Rhode Island

Rhode Island became the first of the Thirteen Colonies to renounce its allegiance to the British Crown On May 4, 1776. Yet, It was the 13th and last state to ratify the Constitution on May 29, 1790. As a colony, the state enacted the first law prohibiting slavery in North America on May 18, 1652.

Rhode Island's official nickname is The Ocean State, a reference to the fact that the state has several large bays and inlets that amount to about 14% of its total area.

Rhode Island has a fascinating and rich history, one that we believe many tourists will want to learn before travelling there. Having knowledge before travelling, enhances the enjoyment of travel and keeps people talking about their trip long after it's over.
